Tutoring has begun for the Spring 2020 semester. Located on the Fourth Floor of the Reed Library, Tutoring Services currently employs 36 student tutors who will provide approximately 162 hours of drop-in tutoring each week. Here is the link to the Spring 2020 Drop-in Schedule. Please share this information with your students.Tutors will be contacting instructors to schedule class visits in an effort to encourage students to utilize tutoring services. We find that peer connection is an effective way to support students who are apprehensive about asking for assistance. I appreciate your allowing 2-3 minutes during your classes for these brief tutor visits.Tutor RecruitmentTutoring Services is currently accepting applications from students interested in joining our staff for the 2020-2021 academic year. One of the most important factors in maintaining a high quality tutoring service is faculty/staff involvement in the recruitment process. Please speak directly to your strongest students, provide them with an application, and suggest that they apply to be a tutor. Here is the link to a Tutor Wanted Flyer. Please feel free to post in your areas. Tutors are paid to work a scheduled number of hours per week. In addition, past tutors have reported this experience to be a strong credential for students seeking admission to graduate programs and competing for jobs, fellowships, and teaching positions. Being a tutor is also a great way for students to provide an important service to the campus while enhancing their own learning.Applications are available on our website or by visiting the Fourth Floor of the Reed Library. The deadline for applications is Friday March 13th at 4:00pm. Completed applications should be submitted to Tutoring Services, Reed Library – Fourth Floor. Thank you for your continued support!
