Become certified in mental health first aid

Date Posted:

Thanks to a SUNY Mental Health First Aid grant awarded to SUNY Fredonia, we are pleased to offer Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) certification at no cost to all faculty, staff, and students.

Mental Health First Aid equips participants with the knowledge and skills to recognize the signs of mental health and substance use challenges, respond appropriately, and connect individuals with the support they may need. Whether you work directly with students or simply want to be better prepared to support others, this nationally recognized training is a valuable resource.

The certification includes:

  • A 2-hour self-paced online module (completed before the virtual (live) sessions)
  • Three required 2-hour virtual instructor-led sessions on August 11, 12, and 13, 2026

Participants must complete the online module and attend all three sessions to earn certification.

If you are interested in participating, please complete this Microsoft Form by July 30, 2026. Participants will need access to a computer with a camera and microphone. All training materials will be provided.

MHFA certification is valid for three years. If you previously completed the training and your certification has expired or will expire soon, this is an excellent opportunity to become recertified.
